Sub-batches can be generated at different stages of the procurement and manufacturing process. To identify the purpose of a sub-batch (for example, sample, shipment, production, retail, etc.), authorized users can define a list of sub-batch types and assign a specific type to each sub-batch.
The list of sub-batch types can be configured in the Sub batch types form (Inventory management > Setup > Sub batch > Sub batch types or Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Sub batch > Sub batch types).
The Sub batch type for each sub-batch can be:
Automatically assigned based on the Sub batch type value selected in the Create sub-batch numbers form upon registration and sub-batch generation in a purchase order or batch order/production order.
Automatically assigned to target sub-batches created as an outcome of a dispensing process, based on the Sub batch type value specified in the dispensing order line.
Manually entered or modified in the Sub batches form (Inventory management > Inquiries and reports > Tracking dimensions > Sub batches).
Users can define the Adjust to zero parameter for each sub batch type. This value is used when a dispensing order is created from a quality order to assign the default Adjust to zero status based on the type of sample (that is, Sub batch type) that needs to be prepared.
When the Sub batch type is used to identify samples, users can also define the default storage locations for sample sub batches, including Site, Warehouse, Location, and License plate (if applicable), when automatic transfer of received or produced samples is needed.
