Whenever the properties of a batch are defined or modified, the same information may need to be quickly propagated to the relevant sub-batches to ensure the consistency of the data.
Users can select one or more sub-batches in the Sub batches form (Inventory management > Inquiries and reports > Tracking dimensions > Sub batches) and copy needed properties from the parent batch by clicking the following buttons in the Functions tab:
Copy from batch > Copy storage condition: copies the storage condition from the parent batch.
Copy from batch > Copy restrictions: copies restrictions from the parent batch.
Copy from batch > Copy restriction types: copies restrictions types from the parent batch.
Copy from batch > Copy use code: copies the use code from the parent batch.
Copy from batch > Copy container configuration: copies the container configuration from the parent batch.
Copy from batch > Copy attributes: copies the attributes and attribute values from the parent batch.
Copy from batch > Copy all: copies storage condition, restrictions, restriction types, use code, container configuration, and attributes from the parent batch.
Sub batch dates > Copy dates from batch: copies all shelf-life dates from the parent batch.
Users can also easily view all sub-batches belonging to a specific batch by selecting the record in the Batches form (Inventory management > Inquiries and reports > Tracking dimensions > Batches) and clicking Inquiries > Sub batches.
It is also possible to let the system automatically update the sub-batches dates when entering/updating the dates of the parent batch by enabling the Update sub batch dates with batch dates parameter in the Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance parameters form (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance parameters > Quality management FastTab) or in the Inventory and warehouse management parameters form (Inventory management > Setup > Inventory and warehouse management parameters > Quality management FastTab).
In this case, the system asks whether to update sub-batch dates whenever updating batch dates via the Reset shelf life dates or Reset vendor batch details button in the Batches form (Inventory management > Inquiries and reports > Tracking dimensions > Batches). The message is displayed only if the selected batch has at least one sub-batch available.
If the user confirms the update, the dates of all the available sub-batches are automatically updated and aligned to the batch dates.
If the user denies the update, only the batch dates are updated, and no modification is applied to the sub-batch dates.
Note
If one of the Update shelf life date for batches/Reset vendor batch details electronic signature requirements is enabled together with the Update shelf life date for sub batches one, and the user triggers the automatic update of the sub-dates, they are required to sign twice (once for the update of the batch dates, once for the update of the sub-batch dates).
If the Update sub batch dates with batch dates parameter is disabled, the sub-batch dates are never automatically updated according to the parent batch dates.
