Life Sciences Supply Chain Management allows users to define and assign restrictions (for example, import/export restrictions) to materials to ensure only licensed/approved medicinal products are permitted to be moved, shipped, or consumed unless otherwise specified.
Users can define the list of restrictions in the Restrictions form (Inventory management > Setup > Product compliance > Restrictions).
Restrictions can be assigned to batches and sub-batches by clicking the Functions > Restrictions > Restrictions button in the Batches and Sub batches forms. When a restriction is assigned to the batch or sub-batch, the Restrictions parameter is automatically enabled in the Batches or Sub batches forms respectively. This way, users can quickly identify the batches/sub-batches subject to specific requirements.
A Restrictions checkbox is also displayed in the Reservation form to allow users to immediately identify materials with specific restrictions whenever performing reservations against different order types, for example, sales orders, transfer orders, or batch orders/production orders.
Users can manually define restriction types (for example, Investigational New Drug (IND) numbers) to batches and sub-batches by clicking the Restrictions > Restriction types button in the Batches and Sub batches forms.
It is also possible to select one or more sub-batches in the Sub batches form and copy the restrictions and restriction types of the parent batch by using the Copy from batch > Copy restrictions and Copy from batch > Copy restriction types capabilities. This feature is helpful if the properties of a batch are modified, and the same information has to be quickly propagated to the relevant sub-batches to ensure data consistency.
Whenever a batch/sub-batch is manufactured, it is possible to automatically populate its restrictions and/or restriction types with the restrictions and/or restriction types associated with the components that have been consumed during the manufacturing process (that is, materials for which the picking list has been posted) by clicking the Restrictions > Update restrictions and Restrictions > Update restriction types buttons in the Batches or Sub batches form.
Life Sciences Supply Chain Management offers some inquiries for restrictions and restriction types as follows:
The list of batches subject to a selected restriction can be accessed by clicking Inquiries > Batches from the Restrictions form (Inventory management > Setup > Product compliance > Restrictions).
The list of sub-batches subject to a selected restriction can be accessed by clicking Inquiries > Sub batches from the Restrictions form (Inventory management > Setup > Product compliance > Restrictions).
The list of batches associated with specific restriction types is displayed in the Restriction types by batch inquiry (Inventory management > Inquiries and reports > Batches > Restriction types by batch).
The list of sub-batches associated with specific restriction types is displayed in the Restriction types by sub-batch inquiry (Inventory management > Inquiries and reports > Sub batches > Restriction types by sub batch).
