Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance allows users to define mathematical formulas to calculate test results based on the result value of other tests. The calculation formula can be defined for the test method, and it is inher-ited in the test group (where it can be edited if needed).
For example, a mathematical formula can be used when a result obtained from the laboratory must be converted (e.g., to a different unit of measure). The automatic calculation reduces the risk linked to a manual entry and manual calculation.
Example
A quality order is available with the following tests:
Test “Potency”
Test “Potency%” with Calculation formula set as “@Potency@/10*4”.
The user enters the result for the test “Potency”. Then, for the test “Potency%”, the user can click the Calculate test result button, and the result is automatically calculated as follows:
“Potency” result: “190” (manually entered)
“Potency%” result: “76” (calculated).
If multiple results are entered for the “Potency” test, the system uses the value in the Average field to calculate the “Potency%” result. The Average field is defined according to the test Evaluation method.
