Copy test results

Prev Next

To speed up the results entry process, Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance allows users to copy test results from existing quality orders depending on predefined rules.

Copy test result rules

The Copy test result rules form available in Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Quality control > Copy test result rules.

Rules can be created based on the following parameters:

  • Batch number: If this parameter is enabled, all quality orders in status “Pass” for the same item and batch are available whenever using the copy test results function.

  • Vendor batch number: If this parameter is enabled, all quality orders in status “Pass” linked to the same item, vendor, and vendor batch number are eligible for copying results. This scenario usually applies to raw materials.

  • Production number: If this parameter is enabled, all quality orders in status “Pass” linked to the same batch order/production order are eligible for copying results. This applies to products with multiple quality checks during the manufacturing process (e.g., after each route operation).

  • Batch components: If this parameter is enabled, all quality orders in status “Pass” related to components of the selected batch are available whenever using the copy test results function. This scenario is usually applied to finished products linked to the same intermediate.

Starting from Life Sciences release 2026-Q3, it is possible to extend the rules above to allow copying results also from “Open” or “Fail” quality orders, by enabling the following parameters:

  • Failed quality orders: If this parameter is enabled, it is possible to copy results from failed quality orders that match the copy test result rule condition.

  • Open quality orders: If this parameter is enabled, it is possible to copy results from open quality orders that match the copy test result rule condition.

Additionally, after setting up copy test result rules, users need to define the quality associations where the rule is applicable. This can be done by selecting a copy test result rule from the Copy test result rules dropdown menu in the Quality association form (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Quality control > Quality association).

A default rule can be set in the Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance parameters form, Quality management tab. All quality associations inherit this value, but it can be overwritten.

Copy test results process

Users can copy results from existing quality orders that match the copy test result rule available in the General tab of the Quality orders form.

To copy the results, users must:

  1. Go to Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Quality management > Quality orders;

  2. Select the quality order to which results must be copied;

  3. Click Copy test results and select the quality order from which results must be copied. Only the quality orders that match with the copy test result rule condition are displayed.

  4. Click OK.

The system keeps evidence of copied results and their origin, to guarantee the full traceability of test results management. Whenever results are copied, the Copied results checkbox is automatically set to “Yes” for the quality order line, and the Copied results data log is available for traceability.

Example

A copy test result rule has been set up, which allows users to copy results from batch components.

Item “PP001 – Packaged product 001” is a manufactured item, and item “FP001 – Finished product 001” is one of its components.

Item “FP001 – Finished product 001” is inspected upon arrival (a quality order is generated). Item “PP001 – Packaged product 001” is inspected upon batch order completion (a quality order is generated).

From the quality order for item “PP001 – Packaged product 001”, the lab analyst checks if quality orders are available to copy from and finds the quality order in status “Pass” for the batch of item “FP001 – Finished product 001”, which has been used to manufacture the batch of item “PP001 – Packaged product 001”.
