In D365 F&SCM, work order lines can be assigned to you. The work order lines, which are assigned to you, are shown as work order tasks in your Rental Mobile Operations - Field service app. To start work on a work order task, first find the work order tasks that are assigned to you. You can find work order tasks in several ways:

Usually, you record the time you work on a work order task. Start recording if you are at the work order task location and start working on the work order task. When you start a work order task, and the work order task status is 'Created', the work order task status is changed to 'In Progress'. Also the related work order line status in D365 F&SCM is set to 'In progress'. Note: If you are working offline, the the work order line status is not changed until you are back online. |

For a work order task without a checklist, you can find the work order task instructions in the Order Note. In D365 F&SCM, on a work order line, an order note can be entered to instruct the field service engineer on the work to be done. This order note can give any relevant information on the work order task. To enter an order note in D365 F&SCM, on the Work order page, select a work order line, and click Additional notes, Line notes. |

In the Checklist, you can find the work to be done for the work order task. In D365 F&SCM, for a work order line, a checklist can be defined. Usually, the checklist is added automatically based on the used work order template. A checklist instructs the field service engineer on the work to be done. If in D365 F&SCM a checklist is defined for the work order line, it is shown in the Rental Mobile Operations - Field service app on the Checklist page. For each task in the checklist, set the result. You can set these results:
When a checklist task is completed (passed, failed, or skipped), the task result is synchronized to the checklist of the related work order line in D365 F&SCM. Note: If you are working offline, the result of a checklist task is not synchronized until you are back online. |

When you do a work order task, you must register the consumption of necessary items. A necessary item is a (spare) part that is required to do the work order task. The necessary items for a work order task are defined in D365 F&SCM in the work order line transactions. When you consume or skip a necessary item, in D365 F&SCM, the related Work order line transactions are updated (consume) or deleted (skip). The work order line transaction is of type 'Required item'. Note: If you are working offline, the necessary item consumption registration is not synchronized with the Work order line transactions until you are back online. |
