You can assign one or more resources to schedule work order tasks using the graphical plan boards: the service plan board and the transport plan board.
You can categorize a resource as one of the following types: human resource, business object, vendor, work location, or tool. Set this in the resource category field.
Each resource type has a related account. For a business object, enter the object number. For a human resource, select the worker.
You can assign each resource to a resource type, such as service engineer or transport. You can also link a resource to one or more resource groups. Use these groups and types to filter resources on the plan boards.
You can assign capabilities to a resource. This shows that the resource meets specific task requirements. For example, a crane operator can require a license. You can filter on capabilities during task assignment in the plan board.
The Rental Management resource type can be linked to a project category. When automatic hour registration is enabled in the work order parameters, this setup is used to register hours when a resource is assigned to a task.

Create resource capabilities |
Service manager |
You can define capabilities for resources, including expiration date, skill level, and priority. A higher priority indicates a better match for the task. Assign capabilities to tasks under Task requirements. This setup supports validation when assigning resources from the plan board. Configure the validation level in the Work order parameters > Capabilities section. Options include Warning, Error, Question, or None. |
|
Create resource groups |
Service manager |
Use resource groups to plan tasks on graphical plan boards. Enable this option by updating the plan board settings to plan by resource group. Capability validation is not supported when using resource group planning. Set a default region calendar and return warehouse on the resource group. These apply to all resources in the group if not individually configured. Use the Calendars fast tab to define working times and optional effective and expiration dates. |

Add resource group to resource |
Service manager |
Adding a Resource group to a resource is optional. Resource groups can be used as a planning option within both Graphical plan boards (change Settings on the plan board to plan by resource group). A resource's link to a resource group can optionally have an expiration date setup.

Add resource capabilities to resource |
Service manager |
Multiple capabilities can be added to a resource. This is an optional setup. Capabilities can be setup on a task (under Task requirements). This can allow a validation when assigning the task to a resource from a plan board, whether the resource holds that capability to complete the task.

Set up resource type |
Service manager |
Link a resource type to a resource so you can filter it in the graphical plan boards. Open Settings and select the option to plan by resource type. In Rental Management, you can link the resource type to a standard project category. This setup supports automatic hour registration when a resource is planned for a task. This requires the Auto-generate (Hour) parameter to be enabled in the work order settings. |
