If a business object uses a consumption-based maintenance plan, you must track its consumption.
To do this, create a meter on the business object:
This setup helps you monitor consumption and schedule maintenance at the right time.
| 1. | Go to Product information management > Products > All products and product masters. |

Note: If you are adding a meter on the existing business object, go to steps 9-16. |
| 2. | In the list, find and select the desired product. |
| 3. | Enter the selected product. |
| 4. | Expand the Service and maintenance section. |
| 5. | Click Add. |
| 6. | In the list, select a desired maintenance plan. |
| 7. | Select Yes/No in the Create object meter field. |

Note: If set to Yes, a meter will be automatically created for a new business object. |
| 8. | Click Save. |
| 9. | Go to Business objects > Business objects > All business objects. |
| 10. | In the list, find and select the desired object. |
| 11. | Click Meters. |
| 12. | Click New. |
| 13. | In the Meter number field, type a value. |
| 14. | In the Description field, type a value. |
| 15. | In the Consumption group id field, enter or select a value. |
