Initiate default maintenance plan

You can maintain a business object by activating a default maintenance plan. The three plan types are:

  • Time-based – Perform recurring maintenance on a time schedule.
  • Consumption-based – Perform maintenance based on usage data from business object meters.
  • Time and consumption-based – Combine time and usage for maintenance planning.

Run a periodic job to create time-based work orders. This job checks the recurrence and specified timeframe to generate orders.

For consumption-based plans, the meter values trigger maintenance work orders when usage exceeds a set threshold.

All work orders created through the service and maintenance module are recorded in the maintenance log. This log provides full visibility into all maintenance activities.

The recurrence in the maintenance plan determines the To date in the periodic job. This date controls which tasks trigger maintenance project creation. You can apply filters to include specific rental stock objects. For example, include only unavailable objects, objects purchased before a certain date, or objects from a specific object group. In the dialog, enter a date to generate maintenance projects only for tasks with a next maintenance date on or before that date. You can run this job in batch mode. Procedure 1. Go to Business objects > Periodic > Create maintenance work orders. 2. In the To date field, enter a date. 3. Expand the Records to include section. 4. Click Filter. 5. Enter the filters for the desired result. 6. In the list, find and select the desired record. 7. In the Criteria field, enter or select a value. 8. Click OK. 9. Click OK on the periodic job. Register meter readings to business object to create consumption based work orders Register meter readings to business object to create consumption based work orders The consumption-based maintenance plan checks if a work order must be created based on the registered meter value. The plan uses recurrence, meter unit, and reset method settings. You can find the meter list on both the business object record and the work order. To register a new meter value, enter the transaction date/time and the new meter value. When the value exceeds the predefined recurrence, a new work order is automatically created. You can also register meter readings using the Field Service app. Procedure 1. Go to Business objects > Business objects > All business objects. 2. In the list, find and select the desired object. 3. In the list, click the link in the selected row. 4. On the Action Pane, click Maintenance. 5. Click Meters. 6. In the meter list, mark the selected row. 7. Click Register under Transactions panel. 8. In the Date/Time field, enter a date and time. 9. In the Transaction text field, type a value. 10. In the New value field, enter a number. 11. In the Work order number field, enter or select a value, only if you wish to add the meter reading to an existing work order. 12. To do this, create a meter on the business object: If the Create object meter field is set to Yes in the product details, a meter is created automatically for new business objects. For existing business objects, you must create the meter manually. This setup helps you monitor consumption and schedule maintenance at the right time. Procedure 1. Go to Product information management > Products > All products and product masters. Note: If you are adding a meter on the existing business object, go to steps 9-16. 2. In the list, find and select the desired product. 3. Enter the selected product. 4. Expand the Service and maintenance section. 5. Click Add. 6. In the list, select a desired maintenance plan. 7. Select Yes/No in the Create object meter field. Note: If set to Yes, a meter will be automatically created for a new business object. 8. Click Save. 9. Go to Business objects > Business objects > All business objects. 10. In the list, find and select the desired object. 11. Click Meters. 12. Click New. 13. In the Meter number field, type a value. 14. In the Description field, type a value. 15. In the Consumption group id field, enter or select a value. 16. Click Save. Use for estimated  maintenance? This date affects the calculation of the estimated maintenance and the maintenance work order creation. You can apply filters to include specific rental stock objects. For example, include only unavailable objects, objects purchased before a certain date, or objects from a specific object group. You can run this job in batch mode. If the checkbox 'Use system date in batch' is enabled, the system date will be used for estimated consumption calculation. Procedure 1. Go to Business objects > Periodic > Estimated consumption for maintenance. 2. In the To date field, enter a date. 3. Expand the Records to include section. 4. Click Filter. 5. In the list, find and select the desired record. 6. In the Criteria field, type a value. 7. Click OK. 8. Select Yes in the Batch processing field. 9. In the Task description field, type a value. 10.
