To use equipment in project quotations and projects, the ‘Equipment’ transaction type is available. Define the categories for equipment in the same way as categories for hours.
Set up the equipment categories and related information to use equipment journal entries in your projects. You can set up equipment in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Asset management or in Project Control Suite - Asset Management.

Procedure 1. Go to Project management and accounting > Setup > Categories > Category groups. 2. Click New. 3. In the Category group field, type a value. 4. In the Transaction type field, select 'Hour'. 5. In the Category group name field, type a value. 6. In the Line property field, enter or select a value. 7. In the Equipment field, select 'Yes'. 8. Click Save. Go to Project management and accounting > Setup > Categories > Shared categories. 2. Click New. 3. In the Category ID field, type a value. 4. In the Category name field, type a value. 5. Select Yes in the Can be used in Project field. Note: Select other options as required for your needs for Production or Expense. 6. Click Save. Make sure to select the category group that is used for equipment. Procedure 1. Go to Project management and accounting > Setup > Categories > Project categories. 2. Click New. 3. In the Category ID field, enter or select a value. Note: Select the shared category you created for equipment. 4. In the Category group field, enter or select a value. Note: Select the equipment category group. 5. Select Yes in the Active in journals field. 6. In the Default line property field, enter or select a value. 7. Click Save. Procedure 1. Go to Project management and accounting > Projects > All projects. 2. In the list, mark the selected row. 3. On the Action Pane, click Plan. 4. Click Assign categories. 5. Click Edit. 6. Go to Project management and accounting > Setup > Advanced project management > Advanced project management parameters. 2. Click the Equipment tab. 3. In the Equipment revenue journal name field, enter or select a value. 4. In the Journal - Equipment field, enter or select a value. 5. In the Default category - Equipment field, enter or select a value. 6. In the Equipment revenue category field, enter or select a value. 7. In the Equipment revenue line property field, enter or select a value. 8. In the Default resource field, enter or select a value. 9. Select Yes in the Post depreciation field. 10. In the Depreciation journal name field, enter or select a value. 11. In the Depreciation category id field, enter or select a value. 12. Close the page. 13. Go to Default dashboard. End End
