Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing provides the capability to allow the automatic transfer of sample quantity to a dedicated storage location in order to segregate samples in different locations to avoid them going to production areas. The movement happens with an automatic transfer journal to move the sample quantity to a dedicated site/warehouse/location/license plate.
In the Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance parameters form (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance parameters) the following fields are dedicated to this functionality:
Default sample journal: allows users to define the transfer journal name to be used for sample quantity adjustment; only journal of type Transfer can be selected.
Automatic sample journal posting: allows users to define if the transfer journal is automatically posted or a manual step from an user is required to review and post the journal.
The Sample – movement parameters allow users to determine the process for which the sample movement must be automatically generated:
Sample movement – Dispensing: to enable the functionality for dispensed material (valid only for Dispensing order of type Inventory); the transfer journal will be generated upon dispensing transaction completion.
The dedicated site/warehouse/location/license plate for sample storage are defined for the Sub batch types (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Sub batch > Sub batch type). For each sub batch type, it is possible to populate the Site, Warehouse, Location and License plate (only if the location is license plate controlled) fields to define the default storage location where the material will be automatically transferred.
The sub batches with an assigned Sub batch type that has the dimensions populated are moved via transfer journal from the dispensing booth location to the storage location defined for the assigned Sub batch type. If the Automatic sample journal posting parameter is enabled, the transfer journal is posted automatically; otherwise an authorized user needs to manually review and post the journal.
The process for weighted material is the following:
The Sample Movement – Dispensing parameter must be enabled in the Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance parameters
One or multiple sub batch types must be available with the inventory dimensions populated (Site, Warehouse, Location, License plate) based on the desired storage location of the weighted sample.
The user completes the dispensing operations and obtains the sample sub batch(es) with the assigned Sub batch type value, based on the sample type and location for storage.
