Define your company's policies on how to administer manufacturing activities during the initial implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Although this setup is typically a one-time activity, it may be relevant to adjust the setup values as company activities expand or change.
The Process Setup page holds the most central setup values, such as which document number series are used for different records, which journal templates to use in reporting pages, and other default settings.
Set up production equipment and activity based costs, non-material costs incurred during production, in the system as resources. When you establish these resources, define both direct and indirect costs. You can also set the capacity for Anywhere Mobility Solutions equipment resources. Once these resource records are created, assign them to production BOMs. Assigned activity based costs affect a production BOM's total cost, while assigned equipment helps with scheduling production activities.
Use batch planning worksheets to plan and schedule production orders. Set up a batch planning worksheet name and specify the default values and basic layout settings that determine what information is presented to the user. You can create several batch planning worksheets, each with its own layout, if necessary.
If certain activities must be performed on components before work on a production order can begin, set them up as pre-process types. Assign pre-process type codes to production BOM lines, and use them to generate pre-process activities for production orders.
The following table describes a sequence of activities, with links to the topics that describe them. These activities are listed in the order in which they are generally performed.
