An unapproved item represents a raw material currently used on a trial basis but not stocked as part of inventory. As such, the setup for an unapproved item is minimal.
Steps - General FastTab
In the search box, enter Unapproved Items, and then choose the related link.
On the Home tab, in the New group, choose New to open an empty unapproved item card.
Leave the No. field to automatically insert a number from a defined number series.
In the Description field, enter the name of the unapproved item.
Choose the Base Unit of Measure field and choose New.
On the Unapproved Item Units of Measure page, choose the Code field, select, for example, Project Control Suite, and then choose OK.
If the unapproved item will have a defined density, assign at least one unit of weight and one unit of volume to the unapproved item, and define the relationship between them in the Qty. Per Unit of Measure field on the line containing the non-base unit of measure.
Fill in the Unit Cost field with an initial value for the cost of one unit of the unapproved item. The Unit Cost field then initialises production BOM lines as they are created.

If weight and volume units have been assigned to the unapproved item, define a density by entering the appropriate units of measure in the Weight UOM and Volume UOM fields.
