Secondary container label printing via mobile device

Prev Next

Life Sciences Warehouse Management enables the print of secondary container labels to identify the secondary containers (for example, multiple boxes in the same pallet or multiple boxes with the same secondary container on different pallets) containing the received material.

It is possible to enable the secondary container label print upon purchase order receipt via mobile device by updating the following configurations:

  • One Document routing record (Warehouse management > Setup > Document routing > Document routing), the Work order type must be Purchase orders for the warehouse, with the Print for secondary containers parameter set to Yes.

  • The Mobile device menu item (Warehouse management > Setup > Mobile device > Mobile device menu items) used for the product receipt must have the Print secondary container label parameter set to Yes.

During the receipt process via mobile device, the system will display the Print secondary container label screen in the Warehouse Management app, after the registration step. Users will be able to verify and, eventually, modify the following parameters:

  • Print reason – reason code for the print operation. Selecting a value can be optional or mandatory depending on the Print reason parameter in the Warehouse management parameters form.

  • Printer name – defaulted depending on the Document routing configuration; users can override it by selecting a different value.

  • Number of copies – defaulted depending on the Document routing configuration; users can override it by selecting a different value.

  • Layout ID – defaulted depending on the Document routing configuration; users can override it by selecting a different value.

Note

  • If the user registers multiple license plates as part of the same purchase order line, the Print secondary container label screen will only be displayed once after all the license plates are processed.

  • If, for a particular line, the user wants to skip the printing, they can enter “0” in the Number of copies field. In this scenario, the system will not generate the secondary container label for the line.

Upon confirmation, the system generates a .DAT, .PAS, .CSV, or .XML file, according to the configuration, and drops it to the folder that the external Label Printing software reads.

A record for each printed label is stored in the Labels form (Warehouse management > Inquiries and reports > Labels).

Secondary container labels can be reprinted using the Reprint label functionality via client. It is not possible to reprint a secondary container label via mobile device.
