Manufacturing date assignment

Prev Next

Life Sciences Supply Chain Management allows to automatically assign the manufacturing date to batches/sub-batches based on different rules, by selecting one of the following options in the Manufacturing date assignment field in the Released product details form (Product information management > Products > Released products > Released product details > Manage inventory FastTab):

  • Default: The manufacturing date of newly created batches and sub-batches for the selected item will be assigned according to the standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management rules.

  • Blank: The manufacturing date of newly created batches and sub-batches for the item will be blank. The other shelf-life dates (that is, Expiration date, Shelf advice date, Best before date, and Destroy by date) will also be blank.

  • Creation date: The manufacturing date of newly created batches and sub-batches for the item will correspond to the date of the batch or sub-batch creation.

  • Release date: The manufacturing date of manufactured batches and sub-batches for the item will correspond to the date of the batch order release. If the batch number is generated prior to release, the manufacturing date is blank at creation. The manufacturing date is automatically populated when the batch order is released to equal the Release date.

It is possible to define which batch disposition codes can be assigned to a batch with a blank manufacturing date by configuring the Allow blank manufacturing date parameter in the Batch disposition master form (Inventory management > Setup > Batch > Batch disposition master):

  • If the Allow blank manufacturing date is enabled for a batch disposition code, the selected batch disposition code can be assigned to materials with a blank manufacturing date.

  • If the Allow blank manufacturing date is not enabled for a batch disposition code, the system will prevent the batch disposition code update if the batch or any related sub-batch has a blank manufacturing date. The purpose is to ensure the critical shelf-life dates of a batch/sub-batch are populated before batch release, as indicated by FDA regulations and international guidelines.
