Label reprinting

Prev Next

Whenever an identity or shipping label is damaged or unreadable, it must be reprinted. The reprinted label will include the same information as the original one.

To reprint a label from the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management client, users can select a record in the Labels form (Warehouse management > Inquiries and reports > Labels) and click the Reprint button.

Once the Reprint button is clicked, a dialog form with the following fields is displayed:

  • Printer name – This is the printer being used to reprint the label. The default value is blank.

  • Number of copies – This is the number of labels being reprinted. The field defaults with the number of originally printed labels, but users can select a different value.

  • Reprint reason – This is the reason code for the reprint operation. The information is mandatory: if no value is selected, the system will return an error.

  • Layout ID – This is the label layout, including the list of information that should be printed. Since the original label must be reprinted, the value is automatically inherited from the original label and cannot be changed.

All records corresponding to reprinted labels are stored in the Reprint log form (Warehouse management > Inquiries and reports > Reprint log). The reprint log displays the following information:

  • Label ID – the label being reprinted.

  • User ID – the mobile device user ID.

  • Print reason – the reprint reason selected upon reprint.

  • Created date and time – the date and time of reprint.

  • Created by – the Dynamics user which is linked to the mobile device.

  • Number of copies – the number of copies being reprinted.

  • Printer – the printer that was selected upon reprint.

Information about the User ID who reprints the label and the reprint date can also be printed on the label itself.

The reprint log filtered for a specific label can also be opened from the Labels form by selecting the label and clicking the Reprint log button.

Note

Label reprinting via mobile device is part of the Life Sciences Warehouse Management module.
