Materials can be moved to different areas in a warehouse or across different warehouses by using mobile device menu items with the following work creation processes:
Movement
Movement by template
Warehouse transfer
To transfer material using the mobile device in the standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management solution, users need to identify the material by scanning/entering the location and/or license plate where the material is stored, followed by the item number and the specific inventory dimension (for example, batch number).
Life Sciences Warehouse Management allows users to directly scan the barcode of the batch or sub-batch to be moved rather than all the inventory dimensions, thus reducing the number of unnecessary scans and optimizing warehouse movement operations. Upon the batch or sub-batch scanning, the system automatically populates the relevant inventory dimensions (for example, Location, License plate, Item number, Batch number, Sub batch).
In case of movement of a sub-batch, the Quantity to be transferred is automatically populated based on the available on-hand quantity, and it cannot be modified. The user is forced to move the sub-batch’s full quantity, thus ensuring sub-batch integrity (that is, the full sub-batch must sit in only one location).
The system allows moving material using a mobile device independently from its batch disposition code, block status, or expiration date, since such a process is used to quickly transfer material across different warehouses, locations, and/or license plates.
