Warehouse operators can instantly adjust inventory by using mobile device menu items with the following work creation processes:
Adjustment in
Adjustment out
The Warehouse Management System included in the standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management solution requires users to scan the barcode of all the inventory dimensions for an item according to the following sequence: location, license plate, item number, batch number, and sub-batch (if applicable).
Life Sciences Warehouse Management allows users to directly scan the barcode of the batch or sub-batch to be adjusted rather than all the inventory dimensions, thus optimizing warehouse operations and reducing the risk of errors. Upon the batch or sub-batch scanning, the system automatically populates any inventory dimensions that can be uniquely identified based on the existing on-hand inventory. For example, if a batch has available quantity in a single location and license plate, the system automatically populates such fields; if a batch has available quantity on multiple locations/license plates, the user needs to specify their value.
Once the inventory dimensions are identified, the user can specify the adjusted quantity.
By default, Microsoft’s standard Adjustment out process automatically sets the quantity to be reduced as the current physical inventory quantity for the scanned material. However, Life Sciences Warehouse Management™ provides an option to require users to manually enter the quantity to be adjusted out, helping to prevent mistakes and ensure accurate records.
Steps
To configure this functionality, follow these steps:
Go to Warehouse management > Setup > Mobile device > Mobile device menu items.
Find and select the menu item that is set up for the Adjustment Out process.
Enable the Default data parameter on this menu item.
Click the Default data button to open the configuration panel.
Add the Quantity field as a Default data field.
Set the Hardcoded value for Quantity to “0”, or leave it blank, to require manual entry by the user.
This setup ensures that when performing an adjustment out transaction, the quantity will not be automatically populated with the on-hand amount, and the user must input the desired quantity to adjust out manually, thereby minimizing potential errors.
Check methods
Life Sciences Warehouse Management also allows to define the following check methods at the mobile device menu item level for both the Adjustment in and the Adjustment out processes:
Expiration date check method (No check or Warning only).
Batch disposition code check method (No check or Warning only).
Stopped sub batch check method (No check or Warning only).
Example
When using an Adjustment in menu item with Expiration date check method set to Warning only, the system displays a warning message when an expired material is scanned.
When using an adjustment out menu item with Batch disposition code check method set to Warning only, the system displays a warning message when the scanned batch has batch disposition code with the Control in adjustment process parameter enabled.
The warning message does not prevent users from adjusting the quantity; it is only displayed as a reminder. It is then up to the user to continue or abort the adjustment process.
