Automatic retest management

Prev Next

Companies may need to retest batches periodically to verify that they still meet quality requirements. Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance lets users define rules for the automatic creation of Retest quality orders.

The following configurations are required to generate retest quality orders:

  • Quality association with Reference type set to Retest (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Quality control > Quality associations): this is configured in the same way as other quality association types. It defines which items or item groups are eligible for retest, along with the applicable conditions, test group, and item sampling.

  • Enable batch disposition codes for retest (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Batch > Batch disposition master): not all batches need to be retested. For example, quarantined batches do not require retesting. Therefore, enable the Block retest quality order parameter for batch disposition codes that should be excluded from retest quality order generation.

  • Generate retest quality order job (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Periodic task > Batches): configure this job to define the retest conditions. At a minimum, you must specify a condition on the Shelf advice date in the Records to include section (for example, generate a retest quality order when the batch reaches its shelf advice date). You can also set the job to run on a recurring schedule.

After the automatic retest configuration is set up, the system evaluates all batches each time the Generate retest quality order job runs. It creates a Retest quality order only when all of the following conditions are met:

  • The conditions defined in the Records to include section are met (for example, the shelf life date is equal to today).

  • On-hand inventory is available.

  • The batch disposition code allows retest (the Block retest quality order parameter is set to No).

  • An applicable Retest quality association exists for the item linked to the batch.

You can review the outcome of the job run in Batch job history (System administration > Inquiries > Batch jobs > Batch job history).

Note

You can only use this feature if you have installed the STAEDEAN Life Sciences Release 10.0.48.49 (June 2026) or later.
