This walkthrough uses the setup provided by the RapidStart package included with the D365 BC Food Manufacturing & Distribution 2018 CU4 release. You can also use Anywhere Mobility Solutions demo database from a release package starting with D365 BC Food Manufacturing & Distribution 2018 CU4 or higher, as it already contains this demo data.
Start with an item that has an item quality test linked to it. In this example, use item P1300 with a test TEMP with numerical values:
High-High: 12
High: 8
Target: 5
Low: 2
Low-Low: 1
This allows a Quality Control test to pass for Anywhere Mobility Solutions value between 8 and two. Anywhere Mobility Solutions value between 12 and 8 or between two and one receives a postpone status, waiting for a Quality Control administrator to decide. Anywhere Mobility Solutions value higher than 12 or lower than one automatically fails the test.
Steps
To set up vendor-specific skip logic on receipt:
Open the Item Quality Skip Logic Template page.
Create a new line for item P1300.
Select Vendor AFT and select Value Class A and Activity Class A. Note that the Skip Logic Setup sub-page is filled with the appropriate data from the template.
Create a purchase order with at least 13 lines for item P1300. Create different lot numbers for each line, then for each line consecutively:
Post the receipt and complete the Quality Control activity with a value of 5 (this leads to an automatic pass).
After each completion, go to the Item Skip Logic Template fact box and check the changes in the values:
After the third completion, the Current Frequency value changes to 2, the Current Level stays at 1, and Current Accepted Events is now 3.
After the fifth completion, the Current Frequency value changes to 3, the Current Level stays at 1, and Current Accepted Events is now 5.
After the seventh completion, the Current Level changes to 2 and the Current Frequency value changes back to 1.
After the tenth completion, no Quality Control activity is created. Instead, a completed Quality Control activity is generated immediately with the status Skipped.
The fact box also reflects this by setting the Skipped Events counter to 1.
Because the skip logic setup is created for Vendor AFT only, creating a receipt for P1300 from a different vendor creates a Quality Control activity but does not affect the skip logic counters.
Receive P1300 from Vendor AFT and fail the Quality Control test. Check the impact on the skip logic values. The Test Status value is now Fail. The values in the fact box reset to 0 only after a new Quality Control activity is passed.
You can use several skip logic setups for the same item/variant combination, provided the source control is different. This means you can set up several lines for the same item, provided you separate them by vendor, or use a blank vendor number on one line and a specific value on the next. In that case, all vendors except the separately mentioned one are treated the same.
You can also use source Vendor and source Item to separate skip logic for the same item, depending on whether it is purchased or produced.
