When you deliver or pick up items at a customer site, you can also pick up previously delivered items. Even if the pickup was not scheduled in advance, you can pick up these items. For example, if the customer requests it.

To initiate an unscheduled pickup, use a pickup request. When you send it to D365 F&SCM, in D365 F&SCM a return journal is created. Also, a pickup transport task is created and assigned to you. To pick up the items of the pickup request, do the pickup transport task in the usual way in the Rental Mobile Operations - Transportation app.

Pickup request statuses:

Status Description
Draft You have created the pickup request. You didn't yet send it to D365 F&SCM.
Sent for creation You have sent the pickup request to D365 F&SCM. In D365 F&SCM, the Return journal is not yet created.
Created In D365 F&SCM, the return journal is created for the pickup request. Also, a pickup transport task is created and assigned to you.
Error An error occurred in D365 F&SCM after the pickup request was sent for creation. Review the error message on the Pickup Request page.

Open to the Rental Mobile Operations - Transportation app. 2. On the home page, on the site map, tap Pickup Requests. Note: On a Windows device or browser, in the navigation pane, tap Pickup Requests. 3. Tap the floating action button > New. Note: On a Windows device or browser, on the taskbar, click New. 4. Subtask: Scan a barcode with an external barcode scanner. 5. Scan de barcode with the external barcode scanner. 6. On the New Pickup Request Item page, review the scanned item information and, if desired, make changes. 7. Tap Save and tap Go Back [ 8. Subtask: Manually enter barcode. 9. In the Barcode Text field, enter the barcode. 10. On the on-screen keyboard, tap the Enter key (check mark). Note: On a Windows device or browser, press Enter. 11. On the New Pickup Request Item page, review the item information and, if desired, make changes. 12. Tap Save and tap Go Back [ 13. Subtask: Scan barcode with the current device. 14. Tap the floating action button > Scan Item. Note: On a Windows device or browser, on the taskbar, click Scan Item. 15. Point you mobile device camera at the barcode. Note: When a barcode is scanned, a green line is shown on your camera. Automatically, the New Pickup Request Item page is opened. 16. On the New Pickup Request Item page, review the scanned item information and, if desired, make changes. 17. Tap Save and tap Go Back [ 18. Subtask: Manually add pickup request item. 19. In the grid, on the header, tap New Pickup Request Item. 20. On the New Pickup Request Item page, fill in the fields. 21. Tap Save and tap Go Back [<]. Note: On a Windows device or browser, tap Save & Close. 22. Tap the floating action button > Send For Creation. Notes You can only create a pickup request if your Device Status is 'Connected'.
