Before you convert a fixed asset to inventory and scrap or sell it, you must off-rent the linked business object if it is still on rent.
You can change the off-rent date and post a return note, or wait until the rental period ends. You can also enter the last on-rent date manually on the Business object page.

Change rental order off-rent date |
Rental clerk |
You can enter the off-rent date at the header level to return a rental item. This updates all lines in the rental order automatically. You can only change the off-rent date from the header if none of the lines were changed. For example, changes in rental dates or price will disable the synchronization. |
|
Rental period has ended |
Rental clerk |
After the rental period ends and the item is off-rented, return it to rental inventory using a return note or work order. Create a rental order with on-rent and off-rent dates to manage this process. For more details, see activity Create and send rental order. |
|
Check the asset availability after the business object returned |
Rental clerk |
Check the status of the business object after off-renting it. Use the asset availability page to find the object using the object number or serial number. |
|

Manually enter the last on-rent date for a business object that will be sold or written down. This step ensures the object is removed from rental availability. This update is not done automatically when posting the Fixed asset to inventory journal. You must complete it manually. |
