Create a consumption-based plan to trigger maintenance based on usage, such as every 10,000 miles.

Set the recurrence pattern and reset strategy:

  • When due: Schedule maintenance at fixed intervals.
  • On completion: Schedule maintenance after each task is completed.

Other key fields:

  • Recurrence: Meter value for triggering a work order
  • Unit: Unit of measure (e.g., hr)
  • Except every: Values to skip work order creation (e.g., 20,000, 40,000)


Standard procedure

1. Go to Business objects > Setup > Service and maintenance > Default maintenance plans.
2. Click New.
3. In the Maintenance plan code field, type a value.
4. In the Description field, type a value.
5. In the Maintenance plan type field, select an option.
6. In the Creation method field, select an option.
7. In the Work order template ID field, enter or select a value.
8. In the Main task field, enter or select a value.
9. In the External task field, enter or select a value.
10. Expand the Consumption based section.
11. In the Recurrence field, enter a number.
12. In the Unit field, enter or select a value.
13. In the Reset field, select an option.
14. In the Except every field, enter a value. (Optional)
