Update the production BOM - Impact workspace

Use Update BOM to replace the production BOM with the BOM associated with the To version.

Steps

1. Go to Product information management > Engineering change management > Engineering change orders.

2. Open a released ECO you want to review.

3. On the Action Pane, in the Business impact group, select Open impact workspace.

   The workspace opens for the selected ECO.

   Note

   If the ECO has no lines yet, the button is unavailable. Add at least one affected product first.

4. In the Production orders section, locate the affected production order.

5. Select Update BOM.

   The Update BOM pane opens on the right.

6. Review the production order and item number.

7. In the BOM ID list, select the BOM associated with the To version.

8. Review the component comparison.

   The comparison identifies components that were added, removed, or changed.

9. Review the component availability information and any shortage warnings.

10. Select Replace to update the production BOM.

    To close the pane without updating the BOM, select Cancel.

    Note

    • Updating the production BOM replaces its existing lines. Review the component comparison before you confirm the update.

    • A component shortage warning doesn’t necessarily prevent the update. Review material availability before releasing the order.

After the update is complete:

• The production BOM lines are recreated from the selected BOM.

• The Action status changes to BOM updated.

The workspace updates the production order with the selected engineering BOM before the order is released to production.
