Re-import updated translations to the product and its variants

Prev Next

Re-import product data to update the translations on both the main product and all of its related variants, keeping them synchronized with the PLM source. Use this task when your Translation update strategy is set to Product and variant updates. Complete the following steps to update the translations at both levels.

Steps

  1. Go to Engineering change management > PLM integration > PLM systems.
The PLM systems list page opens.

  2. Select and open the relevant PLM system.

  3. Set Translation update strategy to Product and variant updates.

  4. Save the PLM system.

  5. Import the existing product from the PLM source with the new or updated translations.

  6. Go to Engineering change management > PLM integration > PLM staging journals.
The PLM staging journals list page opens.

  7. Locate and open the staging journal created by the import.

  8. Select the relevant journal line and open the Translations tab.

  9. Review the imported language codes, part names, and part descriptions.

  10. Click Post journal. The system validates the translations and updates them on both the main product and its related variants.

  11. After posting is completed:

    • The journal status changes to Posted.

    • New language translations are added.

    • Changed translation values are updated.

    • Identical translations are skipped.

    • Invalid or unsupported language codes are skipped and reported as warnings.

    • The Infolog displays the posting results.

  12. Review the Infolog and confirm that the translations were successfully applied to both the main product and its variants.

  13. Go to Product information management > Products > Released products.

  14. Locate and open the main product.

  15. Open the Translations form and confirm that the translations contain the new values from the PLM import.

  16. Open the product variants for the main product.

  17. Select the relevant variant and open its Translations form.

  18. Confirm that the variant contains the same updated translations as the main product.

  19. Repeat the verification for any other related variants.

Note

  • After posting, translations on the main product and its related variants are synchronized with the PLM source.

  • This behavior is the same for Import Part, Import ECO, Import Migration, and Import Release.

  • The Infolog records the translations that were updated and confirms that the changes were applied to both the main product and its variants.
