Post a staging journal

Prev Next

Use this task to post a PLM staging journal and transfer valid PLM data to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management. You can post the journal immediately or run the posting process as a batch job.

Steps

  1. Go to Modules > Engineering change management > Periodic > PLM Integration > Staging journal.

  2. Select the journal to post.

  3. Select Post journal. The posting dialog opens.

  4. Under Parameters, set Transfer failed lines:

    • Yes: Posts the valid lines and moves failed lines to a new error journal.

    • No: Stops the complete posting process if any validation error occurs.

  5. Review the posting settings and select OK.

  6. Review Message details or the Infolog message to confirm the posting result.

  7. Return to the Staging journal list and review Journal status and Original journal.

Results

The posting result depends on the validation outcome:

  • Successful: All product groups are posted. The journal status changes to Posted, and the system does not create another staging journal.

  • Partially successful: Valid product groups are posted, and failed product groups are transferred to a new journal with the status Open. The source journal status changes to Posted with errors transferred.

  • All product groups fail validation: No product groups are posted. The system transfers all failed product groups to a new journal with the status Open. The source journal status changes to Posted with errors transferred.

  • Journal-level or system error: The posting process stops. No product groups are posted or transferred, and the source journal remains Open.

Note

  • If the journal remains Open, review Journal line status and Journal line message. If Transfer failed lines was set to No, any validation error stops the complete journal. Correct the errors or post again with the option set to Yes.

  • If no product groups post when Transfer failed lines is set to Yes, check for a journal-level error, such as a missing target company. Because the error cannot be assigned to a single product group, the system stops the complete posting process.
