The Translation update strategy parameter controls how the integration applies translation updates when you re-import product data for a part that already exists in D365 F&SCM. Select Variant-only updates to update only the product variants or select Product and variant updates to keep the main product and its variants synchronized with the PLM source. Complete the following steps to configure the parameter.
Steps
Go to Engineering change management > PLM integration > PLM systems.
Select the relevant PLM system record.
Locate the Translation update strategy toggle field and select:
Off = Variant-only updates (default) - applies translation updates to product variants only.
On = Product and variant updates - applies translation updates to both the main product and its variants.
Select Save.
Note:
The setting is saved and takes effect on the next staging journal posting. No service restart is required.
The parameter applies only to translations on the released product and product variant. It does not apply to translations on other entities, such as BOM line descriptions or route operation texts.
Parts that were not originally created through the /va are not affected by this parameter. Manual translations on non-PLM parts remain independent.
If you change the strategy from Product and variant updates back to Variant-only updates, the system does not roll back translations that it previously applied to the main product. Those translations remain as-is.
