Use this task to change the product lifecycle state of the From version on the selected ECO line.
A product lifecycle state controls which business processes can use the product version. For example, a lifecycle state can allow or prevent the version from being used in sales, purchasing, production, or planning.
You can complete this task from the Impact Workspace if the ECO hasn’t been processed. If the ECO has already been processed, update the lifecycle state from the engineering version.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure that:
Product lifecycle states are configured under Engineering change management > Setup > Product lifecycle state.
The selected ECO line contains an engineering product with a From version.
You have permission to change the lifecycle state of engineering products.
The ECO hasn’t been processed.

Steps
In the ECO line list, select the line whose product lifecycle state you want to change.
On the action pane, select Change lifecycle state.
The Change lifecycle state pane opens on the right.
In the State dropdown, select the target lifecycle state.
The list displays the lifecycle states configured in your environment.
Review the business process impact and the usage summary.
The summary shows affected records, such as open sales orders, production orders, and planned orders that reference the From version.
If a usage warning appears, review its details and select I understand the impact.
Select OK to confirm the change.
To close the pane without changing the lifecycle state, select Cancel.
How the change is applied
If the ECO hasn’t been processed, the selected lifecycle state is saved with the ECO. The system applies the lifecycle state when you process the ECO.
After you confirm the change, the system displays a message similar to the following:
“Product lifecycle state for item ABC-001, version V-01, changed from Operational to Obsolete.”The ECO change log records the lifecycle-state change, including the previous state and new state.
Change the state after processing
If the ECO has already been processed, change the state from the engineering version:
Go to Product information management > Products > Released products.
Select the applicable product.
On the action pane, select Engineer > Engineering versions.
Select the engineering version and update its lifecycle state.
