Therapeutic areas

Prev Next

In clinical trials, the therapeutic area indicates the disease or condition of interest being treated by the investigational compound of interest. For instance, in a clinical program testing the efficacy of a given drug on Parkinson disease, the therapeutic area is Parkinson disease.

Once the program is created, the next step is to create a therapeutic area for the new program. Users can create a new therapeutic area in the Therapeutic areas form (Clinical Supplies Management > Common > Therapeutic areas). The form presents the following fields:

  • Therapeutic area
  • Description

It is possible to use the Programs button to open the Programs by therapeutic area form to see the list of programs sharing the same therapeutic area. The form is not editable: therapeutics areas can be linked to a protocol via the Therapeutic areas button in the Programs form.

It is also possible to use the Protocols button to open the Protocols form filtered by the protocols sharing the same therapeutic area. From this form, it is possible to directly create new protocols for the selected therapeutic area.

A therapeutic area can be linked to one or multiple items by clicking the Therapeutic areas button in the Clinical Supplies Management tab of the Released products form (Product information management > Products > Released products). In the Therapeutic areas form, users can access the Items by therapeutic area form and visualize all the items linked to the selected therapeutic area by clicking the Items button.
