Shipping label printing

Prev Next

Users can print shipping labels upon container closure during the shipment process.

A Print shipping label parameter is available in the Container packing policies form (Warehouse management > Setup > Containers > Container packing policies) to allow users to define if shipping labels must be automatically printed when closing a container.

When users close a container, if the Container packing policy has the Print shipping label parameter set to Yes, the system will print a label according to the configured Document routing for the process. The label can be applied to the container to ship.

Manual print or reprint of shipping labels is allowed from the Containers form (reprint is allowed when the Allow multiple layouts for shipping container is disabled) by selecting a container which Container status is Closed and clicking the Print > Shipping label (file drop) button. The system displays a dialog form with the following information:

  • Printer name – This is the printer being used to print the label. A default printer may be populated depending on the Document routing configuration, but users can select a different value.

  • Number of copies – This is the number of labels being printed. A default number may be populated depending on the Document routing configuration, but users can select a different value.

  • Print reason – This is the reason code for the print operation. The default value is blank. Depending on the Print reason parameter in the Warehouse management parameters form, a value can either be optional or mandatory.

  • Layout ID – This is the layout to be used to print the label, including the list of information that should be displayed. A default layout might be populated depending on the Document routing configuration, but users can select a different value.

A record for each printed shipping label is stored in the Labels form (Warehouse management > Inquiries and reports > Labels). It is possible to print delivery from and to information, material information (if only one item and one batch is packed into the container), and weight information.

Life Sciences Supply Chain Management module allows printing container storage information on shipping labels, based on the type of used container (for example, for refrigerated shippers, thus supporting the cold chain). The informative text can be specified in the Container type label field of the Container type form (Warehouse management > Setup > Containers > Container types). The Container type label field can be added to a document routing layout, thus being printed on shipping labels.

Life Sciences Supply Chain Management module allows printing shipping labels at the carton level by defining the Carton quantity in the Containers form. Based on this information, the system calculates the number of cartons in the container, and the carton information is stored via the Carton details button in the Containers form.

Users can manually print shipping carton labels in the Containers form by selecting a container which Container status is Closed, clicking the Print > Shipping label (file drop) button, and ticking the Print for cartons checkbox.

A record for each carton is stored in the Labels form (Warehouse management > Inquiries and reports > Labels). It is possible to print delivery from and to information, material information (if only one item and one batch is packed into the container), weight information, and carton details (for example, container 1 out of 25 and the carton quantity).

Note

Enable the Allow multiple layouts for shipping container parameter in the Warehouse management parameters form to allow printing multiple layouts (for example, one shipping label on the shipping pallet and multiple shipping labels on the cartons).
