Scientific notation

Prev Next

Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance allows to display specifications in scientific notation. This is especially useful to verify the correctness of the specification fields (Min, Max and Standard) when the required numbers are very large or very small. That is, many digits before or after the decimal separator.

In such cases, it is possible to enable the Display in scientific parameter in the test group lines (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Quality control > Test groups). When the parameter is enabled, the following fields automatically populate:

  • Min (Scientific): it displays the Min value in scientific notation. For example, if Min is “100,000,000.00”, the Min (Scientific) field displays 1.00E+008.

  • Standard (Scientific): it displays the Standard value in scientific notation. For example, if Standard is “200,000,000.00”, the Standard (Scientific) field displays 2.00E+008.

  • Max (Scientific): it displays the Max value in scientific notation. For example, if Max is “300,000,000.00”, the Max (Scientific) field displays 3.00E+008.

The Display in scientific parameter is inherited by quality orders, where the Min (Scientific), Standard (Scientific), and Max (Scientific) fields are displayed in the same format.
