Rounding of specifications

Prev Next

Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance offers the possibility to define the number of relevant decimals to round external specifications and result values. This option increases traceability when results must be compared against an additional set of specifications with less decimal places (for example, based on a different regulation or on specific customer requirements).

When test results are inserted in a quality order, the system rounds the test result according to the relevant decimals specified and verifies this value against the rounded specifications. Similarly to the internal specification, this verification provides additional information without affecting the final assessment. This additional verification can be enabled and disabled through the Enable rounding button.

The rounding of specifications functionality is integrated with Microsoft Quick result entry form, allowing users to display the rounded result value and its outcome in the updated interface.

Example

External specification:

  • Standard: “10.555”

  • Greater than Min: “5.128”

  • Less than Max: “15.327”

Rounded external specification:

  • Relevant decimals: “2”

  • Standard: “10.560”

  • Min: “5.130”

  • Max: “15.330”

Once the result is entered in the Result value field, its rounded value is displayed in the Result value (Rounded) field (for example, if the result is “5.129”, the rounded value is “5.130”). If the result entered is “5.129”, the test is considered passed, but it is possible to verify that the rounded specifications are not met. The outcome of the verification against the rounded specifications is displayed in the Test result (Rounded) field (Quality order line results form).

If rounded specifications are not required, it is possible to disable the Enable rounding parameter (available in the Test groups line and Quality order lines). In this case, the system will not check the result against the rounded specifications.
