Placebo-controlled studies aim to test a medical treatment where a group of subjects receives the “placebo” treatment, which is designed to have no real effect. The results from the treated group are compared to the placebo group to verify whether the treatment itself has any effect.
Users can identify whether an item is a placebo by ticking the Placebo checkbox in the Released product details form (Product information management > Common > Released products > Released product details > General tab).
The products marked as placebos can be included in the approved placebo list for the active item in the Approved placebos form (Product information management > Common > Released products > Product tab > Setup group > Approved placebos).
Here, users select the placebo of interest in the Placebo field (the dropdown menu lists all products marked as placebo).
Note
If an item is marked as a placebo, the Approved placebos button is disabled.
A placebo item in the approved placebo list can be set as a default by clicking the Set as default button. There can only be one default placebo in the approved placebo list.
Users can retrieve the list of all items that have been marked as placebos in the Placebos inquiry (Inventory management > Inquiries and reports > Placebos > Placebos).
The list of approved placebos for all items is available in the Approved placebos by item inquiry (Inventory management > Inquiries > Placebos > Approved placebos by item).
