In this article, you can find information about the STAEDEAN Life Sciences-specific components for the production environment.
Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing

A standard Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing architecture consists of the following:
Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing SQL Server (AXPDM database): used to store the following data:
Configuration for the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing Client and audit trail for configuration change.
Connection parameters to the D365 F&SCM environment.
Scales/barcode connection parameters.
Scale calibration data.
Event log – List of all actions performed in the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing application, when and by whom.
File server: used to store Scales drivers and report layouts.
Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing Client: frontend app used for Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing.
Scale: scale connected to the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing App.
Note
SDN recommends hosting the SQL and File server using the same service as a virtual machine on Microsoft Azure. This approach leverages Azure’s high-availability features.
For information about the minimum requirements and installation of the components, please refer to the “Installation Guide for Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing”.
Label printing

A standard Label Printing architecture consists of the following:
Azure storage: Azure resource used to store files for labels. SDN suggested type: Standard general-purpose v2.
Azure Logic App + Azure Gateway: used to move the file generated from D365 and uploaded on Azure from Azure Storage resource to the local network.
Server:
On-premises gateway: used to move the file from Azure to the local network.
Label software: used to define label layout and print labels.
Printer: a device used to print labels.
Note
SDN recommends hosting the Gateway and File server as virtual machines on Microsoft Azure. This approach leverages Azure’s high-availability features.
