Sometimes, labels must be printed ahead of the actual production process and attached to containers that will hold the finished products. Life Sciences Supply Chain Management enables users to print labels automatically for the main product, co-products, and by-products when the batch or production order is started through the client.
The Work order type dropdown in the Document routing form (Warehouse management > Setup > Document routing > Document routing) provides options to generate label files when starting batch or production orders by selecting the Production order start or Co-product and by-product order start option. Users can set basic Label Printing parameters in the Overview FastTab or define advanced criteria using the Edit query button.
The Print label parameter is now available in the Start dialog (Production control > Production orders > All production orders > Start) when starting a batch or production order. By default, it matches the value of the Start production parameter but can be edited.
When clicking the OK button in the Start dialog of a batch or production order with the Print label option enabled, the system checks whether a corresponding Document routing for the Work order type = Production order start exists for the specified warehouse and meets any required query conditions (if the Run query option is enabled within the Document routing). Additionally, if co-products or by-products are linked to the batch order, the system also verifies the presence of a Document routing for the Work order type = Co-product and by-product order start for the relevant warehouse, ensuring that all necessary query criteria are satisfied.
If a matching document routing exists, a label is created per the Document routing settings and a new record is created in the Labels form. Otherwise, no label is generated.
Label records in the Labels form are created based on the tracking dimension of the manufactured product, co-product, or by-product:
None: One label record is created. The Number of copies follows document routing setup.
Batch: One label record is created. The Number of copies follows document routing setup.
Sub-batch:
If sub-batch numbers exist in the Production sub batches form, a label record is created for each sub-batch and sample. The Label printed parameter is enabled in the Production sub batches
If a sub-batch is specified in inventory dimensions for the order, one label record is created for that sub-batch.
If neither applies, a label record is generated for the batch.
In all cases, Number of copies follows document routing setup.
The following fields are populated in the Labels form:
