Free movement of material reserved by raw material picking work

Prev Next

For pharmaceutical manufacturers, it is common to move raw materials around the manufacturing area due to the material specification (for example, fridge material), instability of production planning, or operational planning. Specific components can be costly and sensitive to the environment; hence, it is critical to have the capability to move material and capture the movements in real-time.

Life Sciences Warehouse Management allows to move material (for example, batch or sub-batch), even if it has been reserved in a batch order/raw material picking work (that is, work order which Work order type is Raw material picking). In this case, the Pick location in the work order lines is automatically updated to suggest users pick material from its new storage location.

Example

Consider the following scenario:

  • A batch order for item “DP-0001” requires 5 kg of item “AP-00022”.

  • Sub batch dimension is above the Location dimension in the Reservation hierarchy for item “AP-00022”.

  • The batch order has reserved sub-batch “18-AP-0079-001” of item “AP-00022”.

  • The batch order has been released, and a work order has been generated to move the sub-batch from location “BULK-100” to “Prodinput.”

In such a scenario, the system allows moving the reserved sub-batch from location “BULK-100” to location “BULK-200”. Once the movement is completed, the pick Location in the picking work is updated to “BULK-200”.
