Dispensing rooms management

Prev Next

Dispensing rooms are designed to allow dispensing operators to run weighing operations in a controlled environment to preserve product quality, avoid cross-contamination and minimize the risk of adverse events.

The Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing module allows for the following:

  • The configuration of dispensing rooms (also known as booths).

  • The definition of the list of approved material types for a specific dispensing room, thus ensuring users can only handle products whose material type is suitable for that dispensing room.

Dispensing rooms

In the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing module, dispensing rooms are mapped as resources which Type is Location in Organization administration > Resources > Resources.

Each resource is assigned to a site through the Resource group specified in the Resource groups FastTab.

Resource groups can be configured in the Resource groups form in Organization administration> Resources > Resource groups and are site-specific.

An Output location can be defined for each resource group. The target sub-batches are created in the Location defined as Output location to the resource group of the resource where they have been weighed. If no Output location is defined, target sub-batches are created in the location where the parent is.

To guarantee the full integration of the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing components, dispensing rooms must be configured as areas of type Weighing room in the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing Master under Dispensing setup > Dispensing areas.

Note: The Code of a dispensing room must match the Resource value in D365 to ensure the integration between the systems.

Dispensing rooms belonging to the same area can be grouped by creating dispensing areas of the type Area.

To allow only authorized materials in each dispensing room, the list of approved material types for a room must be configured in the Resources form > Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing tab > Approved material types.

Only items with an approved material type for the selected dispensing room can be weighed in that room. Items with unapproved material types for the room are still displayed in the list of components of a dispensing order, but they are not available for selection in the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing Client.

Only dispensing requests with at least one line with an approved material type for the selected dispensing room are displayed in the list.

The verification of the compatibility of material type is managed via a web service operation.

Workstations

The Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing module allows users to assign each workstation to the relevant dispensing room in the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing Master under Dispensing setup > Workstations > System workstation definition, by selecting the dispensing room in the Location field.

In case of stationary workstation, the dispensing room in use is automatically identified at login via the link with the workstation.

In case of mobile workstation, the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing module provides the capability to associate multiple dispensing rooms to the same workstation in the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing Master under Dispensing setup > Workstations > System workstation definition > Associations > Area. It is also possible to define the default dispensing room in the Location field.

The used dispensing room is automatically identified at login via the link with the workstation in use, if configured. Otherwise, the operator is required to identify the dispensing room used by choosing among the associated ones. If the workstation is moved, the dispensing room can be changed by clicking File > Change area in the dispensing order selection screen of the Life Sciences Weighing and Dispensing Client.
