Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management allows assigning the same batch number to material belonging to different items. Life Sciences Supply Chain Management allows enforcing the uniqueness of batch numbers within the legal entity by enabling the Batch number uniqueness parameter in the Inventory and warehouse management parameters form (Inventory management > Setup > Inventory and warehouse management parameters > Quality management tab) or in the Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance parameters form (Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance > Setup > Life Sciences Quality Control & Assurance parameters > Quality management tab).
When the Batch number uniqueness parameter is enabled, the system prevents the creation of a new batch number either automatically or manually when a duplicate ID already exists in the same company.
In the case of batch numbers automatically generated based on a number sequence, the Next field of the relevant number sequence is automatically updated to the next value.
