Batch copy

Prev Next

In the pharmaceutical industry, splitting an existing batch and creating a new one may be necessary when there is a need to physically separate quantities due to an issue in a portion of the batch in the warehouse. The split allows the two quantities to be treated differently and have different quality/inventory statuses. In such cases, critical information must be preserved and copied from the original batch to the newly created one to guarantee traceability.

Life Sciences Supply Chain Management allows users to create a new batch as a copy of an existing one by clicking the Copy batch button in the Functions tab of the Batches form (Inventory management > Inquiries and reports > Tracking dimensions > Batches). All information, including critical information (for example, vendor batch number, expiration date, etc.) and batch attributes (for example, potency), will be copied from the original batch to the newly created one.
