What’s new

New or changed features in Release 10.0.49.61 (October 2026) of Rental Logistics Scanning.

1. Register meter values for components in mass return

Previously, only the main item supported meter value registration during return. A meter-linked component showed the last meter value as read-only, with no way to enter a new reading.

After the automatic return step, mass return now shows the meters registered to the returned components. Select a meter line and enter a new value, then confirm. The value updates on the component in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management once the return is processed.

This also works for cross-company returns, where the rental order and the app user are in different companies. The entered meter value is synchronized correctly across companies.

Description

239277

A rental transfer journal stayed blocked for other users after being closed

Once a rental transfer journal was opened and closed without finishing it in Rental Logistics Scanning, only the original user could open and complete it. Canceling the picking in Rental Logistics Scanning now clears the assigned worker from the transfer journal header, so other users can complete it.

245850

Auto-picking did not re-pick the bulk component after unpicking a set in Rental Logistics Scanning

After a set item is unpicked and picked again via Rental Logistics Scanning, the bulk component (physically connected, allowed for auto-picking) is not picked again, even though the process completes without error.

When an object is assigned to an item, the system now creates the link between the rental line and the latest posted assembly journal for that object, so the bulk component picks correctly after unpicking.

246054

Auto-picking a set item failed when one component had automatic picking disabled

Scanning a serial component of a set item did not auto-pick the parent item correctly when Temporary Assembly was set to No, and ignored bulk components when checking eligibility for Temporary Assembly set to Yes.
For Temporary Assembly = No, the parent is now always auto-picked with the scanned component.
For Temporary Assembly = Yes, both serial and bulk components are checked for eligibility.

246059

Business Object Components form did not respond after reassigning a business object to an unpicked item

After an item was unpicked and the same business object was assigned again, opening the Business Object Components form from the rental line did not respond. This was resolved together with the fix for automatic picking after unpicking. Navigation now works correctly in both D365 F&SCM and Rental Logistics Scanning scenarios.

246932

Mass return processed the wrong components when multiple set items were returned together

During a Rental Logistics Scanning mass return involving multiple set (composite) items, scanning a component from one set caused components from the wrong set to be returned, since matching was not scoped to the specific set.

Component matching is now scoped to the correct assembly object and parent line, with a new parameter tracking the correct bulk rental line, so mass return now returns the correct components and quantities for each set.

247600

Automatic picking screen omitted the main item and bulk component for temporary assemblies

When picking a non-auto-pick component of a temporary assembly set, the automatic picking screen picked the main set item and bulk component but did not display them.

The picking logic was fixed to include both the bulk component and the parent item on the automatic picking screen for this scenario.

248537

Main set item inconsistently shown or added during auto-return in Rental Logistics Scanning mass return

During mass return of multiple rental sets, the main set item was sometimes missing from the automatic return screen or not added to the return staging table, depending on which set was scanned.

The auto-return display logic now considers the parent of the specific line being returned rather than the parent of other duplicate sets, so the main item is now shown and added consistently.

248565

Rental Logistics Scanning mass return failed when scanning items still in Inbound status

Scanning a business object that was in Inbound status (collected by the Transportation app but not yet returned to the warehouse) during Rental Logistics Scanning mass return raised a "Serialized rental item not available" error, blocking the process for customers who use this workflow.

The status check was reworked to block a scan only when the line is already Returned or Return Inspected, so items in Inbound status can again be scanned and processed in mass return.

248616

Rental Logistics Scanning rental transfer journal showed an error when picking a serialized item without a pre-assigned serial number

Picking a serialized item on a rental transfer journal in Rental Logistics Scanning failed when the item had not yet been assigned a serial number in D365 F&SCM.

A validation was added to check that the inventory dimension is available before processing, preventing the error for items without a pre-assigned serial number.

249179

Auto-return did not handle all scenarios for assemblies with Temporary Assembly disabled

For a set item with Temporary Assembly disabled, the Auto Return screen did not correctly include or exclude components and the main assembly across scenarios such as scanning different components in sequence. The auto-return logic has been extended to handle these additional scenarios correctly for Temporary Assembly = No.

271096

Rental Logistics Scanning kept a rental transaction as Picked after a canceled transfer

Canceling a rental transfer journal pick in Rental Logistics Scanning before final confirmation left the business object assigned and the rental transaction status as Picked, even though the transfer journal itself was not updated. Canceling the process now reverts the rental transaction status to Ordered, keeping it synchronized with the transfer journal.

271189

Business object components were missing serial and fleet numbers and were not removed after disassembly across legal entities

In cross-company scenarios, business object components were missing their serial and fleet numbers after a business object was assigned, and they were not removed when the disassembly journal was posted after a return. Component serial and fleet numbers are now shown and stored correctly in the component's own legal entity, and business object components are removed correctly when the rental order is returned.

271192

Rental Logistics Scanning auto-picking confirmation did not actually pick connected components

Confirming the automatic picking screen for connected components in Rental Logistics Scanning appeared to do nothing. The screen returned to the initial picking view without the items being picked.

The picking queries were corrected to match each component to its parent assembly object (rather than the component's own object ID), so components are now correctly picked after confirming the auto-pick screen.

271279

Sales and purchase items no longer displayed on the Rental Logistics Scanning picking screen

Sales and purchase items were not shown on the Rental Logistics Scanning picking screen when they had no warehouse location record. A line is now skipped only when its location exists and is blocked for output. Sales and purchase items are shown correctly again.

271559

Automatic picking screen did not display the main set item even when all components allowed auto-picking

When all components of a set were configured to allow automatic picking, the main set item itself was missing from the automatic picking screen, though it was still picked correctly in the background.

The logic now considers the temporary assembly parameter and only re-displays a parent item if it has not already been picked, so the main item now appears correctly when all components are enabled for auto-picking.

271940

Rental Logistics Scanning picking showed the picking list location instead of the business object's current location when selecting a line

When selecting (rather than scanning) a picking list line with an assigned serialized business object, Rental Logistics Scanning displayed the warehouse/location from the picking list line instead of the object's actual current location.

Rental Logistics Scanning now displays the correct business object location whether the line is selected or scanned.

280058

Mass return staging showed an error when returning bulk components from a rental order with two sets

When a rental order contained two sets, mass-returning a set with bulk components could suggest bulk components that had already been scanned but not yet processed, causing a posting error during mass return staging. Already-scanned components are no longer suggested again, and bulk lines are now added according to the auto-return rules, so staging processes without errors.

280127

Mass return re-suggested components already scanned for a non-temporary assembly

When a non-temporary, physically connected assembly was scanned during a mass return, components that had just been scanned but not yet processed were suggested for auto-return again, which could block the return of the assembly. Items that have already been scanned are no longer suggested again, so the assembly and its components can be returned without issues.

280196

Components missing from mass return staging when scanning a set item cross-company

During a Rental Logistics Scanning mass return for a cross-company rental order, scanning the main set item did not add its components to the mass return staging table. Scanning one serialized component of a set also left the set's other serialized components out of the staging table. All applicable components are now added to the staging table when a set item or component is scanned.

281398

Automatic picking screen not shown for physical set in orders with multiple sets

When a rental order contained multiple sets, scanning an item from a physically connected set picked only that item, without showing the automatic picking screen. The system always used the first set on the order. It now uses the parent line of the scanned item, so the automatic picking screen is shown.

281510

Scanned location not saved in mass return staging for virtually connected set components

In Rental Logistics Scanning mass return, the scanned return location was not saved in the staging table for components of a virtually connected set. This blocked processing. The scanned location is now saved for these components.

281617

Parent assembly not shown on the auto-return screen for a temporary assembly

For a temporary assembly, scanning the last manually returned component did not show the parent item on the auto-return screen. The parent then had to be scanned separately. The system now auto-returns the parent when all other components are returned.
