Manage snapshots
You can export a snapshot of the security configuration. So, you can upload and use it in another environment for comparison reasons.

The security administrator (SysSecSecurityAdministrator) maintains user and security setup in D365 F&SCM, grants the ability to create and maintain security roles, duties, and privileges and the ability to assign users to roles, define role assignment rules, and maintain data security policies.

Export snapshot
Export snapshot
You can export a snapshot of the security configuration.As a result, an XML file is created with the snapshot. The XML file is stored in the Security and compliance file share workspace, on the Snapshots tab.You can use the XML file to import and use the snapshot in another environment.
Procedure
1. Go to Security and compliance > Security > Snapshots.
2. In the list, find and select the desired snapshot.
3. Click Export.
4. Click OK.
5. On the job message, click Close.
6. Close the page.
Notes
A snapshot export is run in a batch job and can take significant time to complete. You can track the progress on the Batch job page. When the batch job is ended, it is no longer shown on the Batch job page.

If you have exported a snapshot of a security configuration, you can download the XML file from the Security and compliance file share workspace.
Procedure
1. Go to Security and compliance > Workspaces > Security and compliance file share.
2. Click the Snapshots tab.
3. In the list, find and select the desired snapshot XML file.
4. Click Download.

Import snapshot
Import snapshot
You can import a snapshot of a security configuration from an XML file that is exported from another environment. You can compare the imported external snapshot with an internal snapshot.When the snapshot is imported from the XML file:The XML file is stored in the Security and compliance file share workspace, on the Snapshots tab.The snapshot is added to the list of snapshots shown on the Snapshots page.
Procedure
1. Go to Security and compliance > Security > Snapshots.
2. Click Import.
3. Click Yes, and on the dialog, browse for and select the desired XML file.
4. Select Yes in the Overwrite existing setup field.
5. Click OK.
Note: Make sure the file is fully loaded before you click OK.
6. On the job message, click Close.
7. Close the page.
