In RapidValue, you have several ways to create a unique version of a solution:

  • Create a solution that is selectively based on an existing solution. You can indicate how to use the elements that are used in the base solution. To create a unique version of the solution, you have these options:
    • Copy base solution elements and reuse other elements: All RapidValue elements, which are used in the base solution, and that belong to the base solution, are copied to the new solution. All other RapidValue elements, which are used in the base solution, are reused in the new solution.
    • Copy all elements: All RapidValue elements, which are used in the base solution, are copied to the new solution.
  • Consolidate a solution: In a solution, you can use elements from reference solutions. To consolidate the current solution, you can merge these elements into the current solution. So, you make these elements unique for the current solution.
  • Release a solution: If you release a solution, a consolidated and non-editable copy is created of the solution. So, the new solution doesn't have any reference solutions. All RapidValue elements, which are used in the base solution, are copied to the new solution. The new solution is blocked for any change.

Procedure 1. Click Business process management. 2. Click New solution wizard. 3. In the What would you like to do? field, enter 'Configure a copy of a solution'. 4. Click Next. 5. In the Reuse or copy elements used in the base solution field, select an option. 6. In the Scope field, select an option. 7. In the Requirements field, select an option. 8. Select Yes in the Tasks field. 9. Select Yes in the Test specifications field. 10. Select Yes in the Test runs field. 11. You can indicate if the scoping data of the base solution is copied to the new solution. This includes the scope indication and the milestones. Select Yes in the Scope field. Note: If the scoping data is not copied, in the new solution, the business processes get the scope indication Not specified. 12. You can indicate if the verification data of the base solution is copied to the new solution. This includes the gap indication and the gap categories. Select Yes in the Verification field. Note: If the verification data is not copied, in the new solution, the business processes get the gap indication Not specified. 13. You can indicate if the status of the elements of the base solution is copied to the new solution. Select Yes in the Status field. Note: If the status is not copied, in the new solution, the elements get the lowest status. This can be the status Open or Created. 14. You can indicate if the owner of the elements of the base solution is copied to the new solution. Select Yes in the Owner field. Note: If the owner is not copied, in the new solution, the elements do not have an owner. 15. Click Next. 16. Click Next. 17. Click Finish. Consolidate solution Consolidate solution In a solution, you can use elements from reference solutions. To consolidate the current solution, you can merge these elements into the current solution. So, you make these elements unique for the current solution. You can consolidate one reference solution at a time. If several reference solutions are available, carefully select which one to consolidate first. Duplicate elements If you consolidate a solution, duplicate elements can be found. So, elements from the reference solution can already exist in the current solution. You can define what action is taken if a duplicate is found: Keep both elements; the copied elements get a suffixUse destination element For each duplicate that is found, a task is created and assigned to the user who does the consolidation. Such a task describes the found duplicate and the action that is taken. You can use the task to check whether the right action is taken and to make changes, if required. Reference solutions As a result of the consolidation, the selected reference solution is removed from the reference solutions of the current solution. Note: In a reference solution, you can also use elements from another solution (which is a reference solution of your reference solution). You can have used such elements in your current solution. In this case, the reference solution of your reference solution is added as a reference solution to the current solution. Example: Solution 'Base' has a reference solution 'A'. Solution 'A' has a reference solution '1'. In solution 'Base', you have used a flow from solution 'A'. This flow in solution 'A' has an activity from solution '1'. If you consolidate solution 'A' into solution 'Base': Solution 'A' is removed as reference solution from solution 'Base'.Solution '1' is added as reference solution to solution 'Base'. Procedure 1. Click Business process management. 2. In the list, find and select the desired record. 3. Click Edit. 4. Click Consolidate to open the drop dialog. 5. If you consolidate a solution, duplicate elements can be found. So, elements from the reference solution can already exist in the current solution. You can define what action is taken if a duplicate is found: - Keep both elements; the copied elements get a suffix: A copy is created of the reference solution element. The copied element gets a number as suffix. If you choose this option, no data is lost from both the reference solution and the current solution. - Use destination element: The element that already exists in the current solution is used. So, no copy is created. If you choose this option, you get a smaller and consistent solution. However, be aware that you can lose some data where elements from the reference solution are replaced by elements from the current solution. In the Action on duplicates field, select an option. Note: If you choose Keep both elements; the copied elements get a suffix, flows and activities often don't get a suffix. For flows, often the related process already gets a suffix before the flow is found. And as the process is a key field of the flow, the process with the suffix makes the flow unique. For activities, often the related area already gets a suffix before the activity is found. And as the area is a key field of the activity, the area with the suffix makes the activity unique. 6. Click OK. 7. Click OK. 8. Close the page. Notes Only the reference solution elements that are used in the current solution are consolidated. Release solution Release solution You can release a solution to create a snapshot of it. If you release a solution, a consolidated and no editable copy is created of the solution. As a result: The new solution doesn't have any reference solutions. All RapidValue elements, which are used in the base solution, are copied to the new solution. If a duplicate element is found, the element that already exists in the new solution is used. So, no copy is created. The new solution is blocked for any change. All elements have the status Released.Optionally, all elements are assigned to the same owner. Procedure 1. Click Business process management. 2. In the list, find and select the desired record. 3. Click Edit. 4. Click Release to open the drop dialog. 5. In the Name field, type a value. 6. In the Owner field, type a value. 7. Click OK. Start Start End End

Configure copy of solution

Solution designer

You can create a solution that is selectively based on an existing solution. You can indicate how to:
  • Use the elements that are used in the base solution.
  • Copy the business process hierarchy of the base solution.
  • Copy implementation data.
  • Copy field values.
On creation of the new solution, also:
  • All settings of the base solution are copied to the new solution.
  • For each solution, which is found in the reused elements, a reference is added to the new solution.

Consolidate solution

Solution designer

In a solution, you can use elements from reference solutions. To consolidate the current solution, you can merge these elements into the current solution. So, you make these elements unique for the current solution.

You can consolidate one reference solution at a time. If several reference solutions are available, carefully select which one to consolidate first.

Duplicate elements

If you consolidate a solution, duplicate elements can be found. So, elements from the reference solution can already exist in the current solution. You can define what action is taken if a duplicate is found:

  • Keep both elements; the copied elements get a suffix
  • Use destination element

For each duplicate that is found, a task is created and assigned to the user who does the consolidation. Such a task describes the found duplicate and the action that is taken. You can use the task to check whether the right action is taken and to make changes, if required.

Reference solutions

As a result of the consolidation, the selected reference solution is removed from the reference solutions of the current solution. Note: In a reference solution, you can also use elements from another solution (which is a reference solution of your reference solution). You can have used such elements in your current solution. In this case, the reference solution of your reference solution is added as a reference solution to the current solution.

Example:

Solution 'Base' has a reference solution 'A'.

Solution 'A' has a reference solution '1'.

In solution 'Base', you have used a flow from solution 'A'. This flow in solution 'A' has an activity from solution '1'.

If you consolidate solution 'A' into solution 'Base':

  • Solution 'A' is removed as reference solution from solution 'Base'.
  • Solution '1' is added as reference solution to solution 'Base'.

Release solution

Solution designer

You can release a solution to create a snapshot of it. If you release a solution, a consolidated and no editable copy is created of the solution.

As a result:

  • The new solution doesn't have any reference solutions.
  • All RapidValue elements, which are used in the base solution, are copied to the new solution.
  • If a duplicate element is found, the element that already exists in the new solution is used. So, no copy is created.
  • The new solution is blocked for any change. All elements have the status Released.
  • Optionally, all elements are assigned to the same owner.
