You can monitor and troubleshoot started data entry workflows. For each workflow, the status, created tasks, and entered data are logged.

Data entry workflows that are started by you. Completed data entry workflows. Procedure 1. Click Data entry workflow management. 2. Click the desired tab. 3. In the list, click the link of the desired workflow. 4. Sub-task: View task history. 5. In the Tracking details list section, in the list, find and select the desired task. 6. Click History. 7. Close the page. 8. Sub-task: View applicable entered data for a task. 9. In the Tracking details list section, in the list, find and select the desired task. 10. Click Field values. 11. Troubleshoot data entry workflow Troubleshoot data entry workflow A workflow error can occur when data is transferred from the staging table to the target tables. Data is transferred from the staging table to the target tables when: A task is completed for which Transfer to target is enabled. The last task of a workflow is completed. Procedure 1. Click Data entry workflow management. 2. Click the Workflows with an error tab. 3. Sub-task: View workflow errors. 4. In the list, find and select the desired workflow. 5. Click Show errors. 6. Sub-task: Restart workflow task where errors occurred. 7. In the list, find and select the desired record. 8. Click Restart failed step. Do you want to stop  the execution of  a workflow? Do you want to stop  the execution of  a workflow? Cancel data entry workflow Cancel data entry workflow You can cancel a workflow that is in progress. For example, if the record that is entered doing the workflow is not needed. The workflow can be canceled by any Data entry workflow user. When you cancel a data entry workflow, the: Workflow status is set to Canceled. You cannot further process the workflow. Status of the already created tasks is set to Ended. Workflow is kept in history with the entered data. Note: If during data entry a number is retrieved from a continuous number sequence, this number becomes free for use by the number sequence again. If for one of the already done tasks the data is transferred to the target tables, the data in the target tables stays. You cannot cancel a workflow that has a task with the status 'In progress'. Procedure 1. Click Data entry workflow management. 2. Click the Workflows in progress tab. Note: You can also select a data entry workflow to be canceled on these tabs: All workflows Workflows initiated by me Workflows with an error 3. In the list, click the link of the desired data entry workflow. 4. Click Cancel. 5. In the Comments field, type a value. 6. Click OK. 7. Close the page. Are post actions  set up for  workflow steps? Monitor and troubleshoot post actions Monitor and troubleshoot post actions For some steps in a data entry workflow template, post actions can be defined. A post action runs a menu item. During or after workflow execution, you can view the run post actions and the run status. When a post action is run, an error can occur. Usually, the error is related to configuration in D365 FO. When you have fixed the issue, you can rerun a failed post action. Procedure 1. Click Data entry workflow management. 2. Click the Workflows with an error tab. 3. Sub-task: View errors. 4. In the list, find and select the desired failed workflow. 5. Click Show errors. 6. Sub-task: Investigate errors. 7. On the Data entry workflow management workspace, on the Workflows with an error tab, in the list, click the link of the desired workflow. 8. On the Workflows page, expand the Tracking details list section. 9. In the list, find and select the step with status 'Post action failed'. 10. Click Post actions execution. 11. On the Post actions execution page, in the list, find and select the post action with execution status 'Error'. 12. Click Show errors. 13. To investigate the parameters with which the post action is run, you can open the dialog that is run by the post action. Click Show dialog. Note: To fix the error, you cannot make the desired changes on this dialog. 14. To close the dialog, click Cancel. 15. Close the page. 16. Close the page. 17. Sub-task: Fix error and rerun post action. 18. On the Data entry workflow management workspace, on the Workflows with an error tab, in the list, click the link of the desired workflow. 19. A workflow error can occur when data is transferred from the staging table to the target tables.

Data is transferred from the staging table to the target tables when:

  • A task is completed for which Transfer to target is enabled.
  • The last task of a workflow is completed.

You can cancel a workflow that is in progress. For example, if the record that is entered doing the workflow is not needed.

The workflow can be canceled by any Data entry workflow user.

When you cancel a data entry workflow, the:

  • Workflow status is set to Canceled. You cannot further process the workflow.
  • Status of the already created tasks is set to Ended.
  • Workflow is kept in history with the entered data.

For some steps in a data entry workflow template, post actions can be defined. A post action runs a menu item.

During or after workflow execution, you can view the run post actions and the run status.

When a post action is run, an error can occur. Usually, the error is related to configuration in D365 FO. When you have fixed the issue, you can rerun a failed post action.
