Online Update Management

Prev Next

Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (IEM) and Food Manufacturing & Distribution (FOOD) are available as an EmbedApp on a STAEDEAN online environment. STAEDEAN manages this environment and is therefore responsible for the major, minor, and hotfix releases on this environment. These releases are available in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Admin Center.

Major releases

Major releases occur in waves:

  1. The first wave contains sandbox environments and has a time frame of one week.

  2. The second wave contains production environments and has a time frame of 2.5 weeks.

STAEDEAN notifies partners by email of the start date and time frame.

To schedule a major release update:

  1. Go to Environments.

  2. Check whether an Available Update Version appears.

  3. Select the environment.

  4. In Version Management, the Available Update Version, Update Scheduling Availability, Update Start Date, and Update Window appear.

  5. The Update Start Date defaults to the date set by STAEDEAN. You can modify this date within the time frame STAEDEAN sets.

  6. Define the Update Window. Plan this outside working hours when possible.

  7. The upgrade runs according to the set or modified start date and defined update window.

Note

When the Start Date is not modified, the upgrade starts from the set Start Date.

Minor releases and hotfixes

To install a minor release or hotfix:

  1. Go to Environments.

  2. Select the environment.

  3. Go to Apps.

  4. In Manage Apps, check whether a Latest Available Version appears.

  5. Select Install Update to immediately start updating the environment to the latest version.

STAEDEAN notifies partners by email when a new latest version is available.

Note

Online Update Management is subject to change due to new insights and growth in the number of tenants and number of different localizations.
