Tie an item process to inventory

Prev Next

When defining an item process, enter the output item on the Output FastTab of the item process card. The output item must already be set up in the program. During this initial setup, however, it is not possible to tie the item to a production BOM because the production BOM has not yet been created. Once an output item has been assigned to an item process, tie the process to the appropriate inventory item.

Steps

  1. In the search box, enter Items, and then choose the related link.

  2. Open the relevant item card and click the Replenishment FastTab.

  3. Choose the Production BOM No. field and select the production BOM to which the item has been assigned as an output item.

  4. Enter the item's own number in the Production Grouping Item field.

A production grouping item identifies a common intermediate item that can be used to group together production requests for finished goods that share the same intermediate. Because the output item of an item process is an intermediate, assign it as its own production grouping item.

Note

After you tie an item to an item process, it may be necessary to calculate the standard cost of the item.
