If you plan to use accrual plans, create links to the G/L accounts. Create these links by setting up one or more accrual posting groups. You can use the same G/L account numbers or different account numbers for each posting group.
Set up the necessary accounts in the chart of accounts before setting up posting groups.
Steps
In the search box, enter Accrual Posting Groups, and then choose the related link.
On the Home tab, in the New group, select New.
Fill in these fields:
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Code | A code to uniquely identify the accrual posting group. |
Description | A description for this posting group. |
Sales Plan Account | The G/L account to which amounts accrued from sales transactions are posted. Accrual amounts posted to this account are not deducted as they are paid out. |
Sales Account | The G/L account to which differences between the line price and the item price are posted, based on the Price Impact setting on the accrual card. |
Purchase Plan Account | The G/L account to which amounts accrued from purchase transactions are posted. Accrual amounts posted to this account are not deducted as they are paid out. |
Purchase Account | The G/L account to which differences between the line price and the item price are posted on purchase documents. |
Accrual Account | The G/L account to which both accruals and payments are posted. This account holds the balance to be paid out across all accruals posted in the system. |
General Product Posting Group | Links a general product posting group to this accrual posting group. Used to populate the General Product Posting Group field on journal lines when a correction is posted. |
Note
Note that the Sales Account (Accrual) and Purchase Account (Accrual) fields only apply when the accrual posting group is assigned to a marketing plan that posts at the document line level, because price impact is only available at this posting level. For document line level plans, accounts can also be set up for different combinations of general business and product posting groups in the General Posting Setup. The entries on the Accrual Posting Groups page always apply to accrual plans with a posting level more general than document line
After setting up the accrual posting groups, assign a posting group code on each accrual plan card.
