Pick items with a warehouse staged pick

Prev Next

When your warehouse is set up to require warehouse pick processing, combine several pick requests for the same item on a warehouse staged pick. You can then issue individual picks against staged pick quantities. For more about the concept of staged picking, see Staged Picking.

The following steps describe how to pick items with a staged pick for outbound documents such as sales, transfer, and purchase return orders. The same procedure applies to production orders. For simplicity, only outbound orders are described in detail.

Create a warehouse staged pick

Steps - Create a warehouse staged pick

  1. In the search box, enter Order Shipping, and then choose the related link.

  2. Select the outbound transactions you want to pick.

  3. On the Navigate tab, in the Order group, choose Stage. The Warehouse Staged Pick page appears.

The Items to Stage FastTab displays a single line for each item that must be staged. If the same item is present on several source documents, the program combines these quantities into a single amount. View the item quantities on each source document on the Orders FastTab.

Stage items (pick to the staging bin)

Steps - Stage items (pick to the staging bin)

  1. On the Warehouse Staged Pick page, on the Actions tab, in the Functions group, choose Pick Items (To Staging Bin).

  2. Fill in the fields in the request page as desired and choose OK.

A warehouse pick is generated based on the lines on the Items to Stage FastTab.

  3. In the search box, enter Picks, and then choose the related link.

  4. Select the pick instruction generated from the staged pick.

You can sort the lines, assign an employee to the pick, set a break-bulk filter, and print the instructions.

  5. Perform the pick and place the items in the specified staging bin.

  6. On the Actions tab, in the Registering group, choose Register Pick.

The program updates the Qty. Staged field on the Items to Stage FastTab of the staged pick.

Pick staged items (pick from the staging bin)

Once items are picked to the staging bin, generate individual picks based on the related source documents from the staged pick.

Note

If you are picking for outbound documents, create a warehouse shipment for these documents before generating warehouse picks. You do not have to create picks from the warehouse shipment, however.

Steps - Pick staged items (pick from the staging bin)

  1. In the search box, enter Whse. Staged Picks, and then choose the related link.

  2. Select the staged pick from which you want to generate picks.

  3. On the Options FastTab of the staged pick, fill in the Order Picking Options field with the method the system should use when generating picks for the staged items.

  4. On the Actions tab, in the Functions group, choose Pick Items (From Staging Bin).

  5. Fill in the fields in the request page as desired and choose OK.

Warehouse picks are generated based on the lines on the Orders FastTab.

  6. In the search box, enter Picks, and then choose the related link.

  7. Select a pick instruction generated from the staged pick.

You can sort the lines, assign an employee to the pick, set a break-bulk filter, and print the instructions.

  8. Perform the pick and place the items in the specified shipping bin.

  9. On the Actions tab, in the Registering group, choose Register Pick.

The program updates the Qty. Picked field on the Orders FastTab of the staged pick.

When the last warehouse pick is registered, the warehouse staged pick is deleted automatically.
