Lot specifications are different item lot properties whose values change on a lot-by-lot basis. Recording these properties for individual lot records is useful when item lots must meet certain criteria before they are acceptable for use.
The lot specifications assigned to item lot records are set up as data collection data elements. Each data element is assigned a data entry type, such as numeric or lookup. When you assign a data collection data element to an item lot as a lot specification, you can enter a value that corresponds to the type. For example, if a data element is set up to require numeric data entry, the program expects a numeric value for the lot specification whenever it is assigned to an item lot.
