You can post the labor and materials used for a work order in a maintenance journal. Entries for internal and external labor and nonstock items posted in a maintenance journal have no effect on the general ledger. When entries for stock items are posted in a maintenance journal, a negative adjustment is made to the item, which in turn affects the general ledger.
Steps
In the search box, enter Maintenance Journal, and then choose the related link.
In the Entry Type field on the first line, choose the type of journal entry you want to make.
In the Work Order No. field, enter the work order for which you are entering labor or materials.
Fill in the journal line with the relevant information.
Repeat this procedure for each maintenance journal line you want to post.
After filling in the fields, post the journal. On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Post.
