Create resource tasks

Prev Next

The resource task connects resource planning with time registration. Planning functions in projects, assembly, service, and manufacturing create resource tasks automatically. You can also create resource tasks in batch.

Create resource task from planning

Use the following functions from the relevant module:

  • Projects: Change the status of a project task to Released to create or update a resource task for the project task. Change the status of the project planning line to Released to create or update an assignment to the resource task.

  • Assembly: The setting in Resource Task Setup: Assembly: Create Task on Assembly Release controls the creation of resource tasks. When true, the resource task is created or updated when the assembly order is released.

  • Service(when Service Integration is installed): A column in Repair Status Setup: Resource Task Active determines for each status code if a resource task per service item line is created or updated, as well as task assignments for resources allocated to the service order.

  • Manufacturing(when Manufacturing Integration is installed): When changing the status of a production order to Released, or when using the Refresh or Replan function in the released production order, a resource task is created or updated per operation. The number of tasks created depends on the setting in Resource Task Setup: Production: Resource Task Creation Type, which can be set to For All Operations or For Point of Completion.

Create resource task in batch

Batch functions are available to create resource tasks outside the embedded planning processes.

Steps - Create project tasks - Batch

  1. Choose the  Lightbulb icon, enter Create Project Tasks, and then choose the related link.

  2. Specify the required projects and project tasks and click OK to create tasks.

Steps - Create assembly tasks - Batch

  1. Choose the  Lightbulb icon, enter Create Assembly Tasks, and then choose the related link.

  2. Specify the appropriate assembly orders and click OK to create tasks.

Steps - Create service tasks - Batch

  1. Choose the  Lightbulb icon, enter Create Service Tasks, and then choose the related link.

  2. Specify the appropriate document details and click OK to create tasks.

Steps - Create production tasks - Batch

  1. Choose the  Lightbulb icon, enter Create Production Tasks, and then choose the related link.

  2. Specify the appropriate production order and click OK to create tasks.

Steps - Create resource tasks manually

Create resource tasks of the type Resource manually from the Resource Task List:

  1. Choose the  Lightbulb icon, enter Resource Task List, and then choose the related link.

  2. In the Resource Task List, select New.

  3. Complete the fields on the Resource Task card. The Type field defaults to Resource and is not editable.

Steps - Clean up resource tasks

Because resource tasks maintain the link between a source document (project, assembly, production, service) and time lines, resource tasks are not deleted. The clean-up process sets the resource task status to Terminated:

  1. Choose the  Lightbulb icon, enter Cleanup Tasks, and then choose the related link.

  2. Specify the appropriate task details and click OK to clean up the registered tasks.
